The Bartow County Fire Department and Cartersville Fire Department jointly operate the training center. The training center was opened in 2011 and serves as the center for all practical hands on training and some classroom training in the county and city. Along with local training opportunities, the training center is used for State Level Firefighter Courses and for GSAR Training. The facility contains a burn building with Class A and Class B rooms, smoke machine, standpipes, sprinklers, FDC's, rappelling anchors, and can be adapted for many other training scenarios as well. A multi-story tower is also on the premises and is used for search and rescue, ladder operations, high angle rescue, confined space rescue, smoke generator, and can be adapted for other training scenarios as well. The training center also contains a pit for pump training and pump service testing. In the last few months, a pavilion with restrooms and showers has been built at the training grounds. Two classrooms are currently on the property and plans are under way to add additional training props at the training center and also to build a state of the art classroom facility in the future.
